Our FSF Food Box
A lifeline for those in need
Through sales and donations, Friends Supporting Families currently funds monthly food purchases for approximately 25 local families in need.
Each Food Box, distributed by the DIF, contains nutritious food items and basic toiletries to support a family for about one month. The cost of one Food Box is approximately $625 pesos (about $35 USD), making a meaningful impact with every contribution.
Friends Supporting Families does not determine which families receive Food Boxes. Distribution is handled entirely by the DIF, ensuring assistance is delivered respectfully and through established local channels. In this way, support comes from the community and reaches families with dignity intact.
Each month, our food order is placed with Joe’s Deli, a small, locally owned tienda in Los Barriles. Joe’s Deli has supported our mission from the very beginning, and their ongoing generosity and partnership play a vital role in making this work possible.
Once food is received, FSF volunteers deliver it directly to the local DIF office, where it is stored in the Food Pantry until distribution.
The Food Pantry is a Special Project made possible by a generous donor who funded the construction of a dedicated space at the DIF office to safely organize and store donated food. This ensures food is handled properly and distributed efficiently by DIF staff.

Volunteer Driven

What's In The Box?
Every FSF Food Box is packed by the DIF with the essentials a local family can use immediately. Items like flour, sugar, beans, salt, lentils, maize, milk, cereal and more.
Each month, we also include basic toiletries like shampoo, bar soap, toothpaste, and toilet paper. These are everyday items many of us barely think about, but for families in need, they make a real difference.
