Friends Supporting Families - Embracing The Excitement of Los Barriles Fishing Tournaments

The Los Barriles fishing tournament season is almost here, and Friends Supporting Families is excited to be part of the action! Your support helps us feed 36 local families each month.

As anglers, spectators, and visitors gather in Los Barriles for the Dorado Shoot Out, the Ladies' Shoot Out, and the Wahoo & Tuna Shoot Out, we'll be there during registration with a table full of handcrafted items and opportunities to purchase food boxes for local families in need. Make plans to stop by our booth, say hello, and support our mission.

The season kicks off on July 18 with the Dorado Shoot Out, the largest Dorado tournament in Baja. With an average of 140 boats participating each year, this event draws anglers from across Mexico, the United States, and beyond for a day of exciting competition and impressive prizes.

On July 25, the Ladies' Shoot Out returns following a highly successful inaugural tournament in 2025. Last year, 28 teams and more than 80 women anglers from Mexico and the United States participated in this unique event, making it one of the most exciting additions to the East Cape fishing calendar. To make it even more exciting, some of our own Friends Supporting Families volunteers will be fishing this year!

The tournament season continues with the Wahoo & Tuna Shoot Out on September 19. This popular event showcases the outstanding fishing opportunities that make the East Cape famous around the world.

Tournament season is one of the most exciting times of year in Los Barriles. Visitors come for the world-class fishing, but they also experience the generosity and community spirit that make the East Cape such a special place.

We invite all anglers, families, spectators, and visitors to stop by our booth, meet our volunteers, and learn more about the work we do throughout the year. When you purchase one of our handmade items, you're doing more than taking home a unique souvenir—you are helping provide food and support to families in need right here in our community.
